The Art of Losing

Rarely do I have things that I hold dear to me, and when I lose things, I try so hard to find these lost items (like mom’s pearl earrings…) but eventually realize it’s futile. Eventually, I get over it. or forget it. Whichever comes first.

Here is a poem (by Elizabeth Bishop) to explain what I feel (sans last 4 lines)

One Art

The art of losing isn’t hard to master;
so many things seem filled with the intent
to be lost that their loss is no disaster,

Lose something every day. Accept the fluster
of lost door keys, the hour badly spent.
The art of losing isn’t hard to master.

Then practice losing farther, losing faster:
places, and names, and where it was you meant
to travel. None of these will bring disaster.

I lost my mother’s watch. And look! my last, or
next-to-last, of three loved houses went.

Since I miss my barkada too much [we haven’t seen each other since May 2011!], I gave in to my “no pictures” rule because of my currently fractured nose that is in a cast [Which people look at and rudely think that I had a nose job. FYI, I like my nose perfectly fine.] However, since I don’t want any pictures of my nose in a cast, I resorted to just covering up my nose.

11.30.12 Just playing around with this photo I took using my cellphone. It’s the University of the Philippines! I was feeling chill today and felt so at peace that while driving, I saw this perfect scene. I immediately put the hazard lights signal, stopped the car, and took pictures. Hahaha
